Born in Bohemia to an upper class family, he studied composition with Dvořák at the Prague Conservatory. The composer Novák had a privileged background that Brahms recognized his work and recommended him to the famous publisher Zimrock. In his early years, Novák wrote impressionist-influenced works, but when he fell in love with the talented young singer Yavková at the age of 26, his style underwent a major shift, and from then on he began to produce a series of picturesque, colorful works that incorporated the essence of Bohemian folk music with a profound sound reminiscent of Wagner. His works are as colorful as his paintings and have a profound sound reminiscent of Wagner. The piece "On the Tatra Mountain" was inspired by a trip to the magnificent Tatra Mountains on the border of the Czech Republic and Poland, and is reminiscent of film music. Lady Godiva" was written for the opening of the Prague Municipal Theater. Eternal Longing" is a sound story inspired by Andersen's tale. These works were born from the rich nature of Bohemia.
