Stanislaw Moneuszko, one of the leading Polish opera composers of the 19th century, bridging the gap between Chopin and Szymanowski, began piano lessons at age 4, studied at the Zing Academy in Berlin at age 18, returned to Poland after two years of study, married, and worked as a piano teacher in Vilnius and He was a piano teacher and conductor of a theater orchestra in Vilnius. As a composer, he left behind not only operas but also ballet music and several orchestral works, all of which were based on popular themes, celebrated Polish patriotic spirit, and received great approval from the audience, Although he lost his position at the theater, it is believed that he continued to compose operas until his death.In this album, leading Polish conductor Wito performs ballet music from Monieuszko's famous opera "Halka" and "Countess," as well as solo dances and other works that strongly evoke a sense of Polish national identity.
