The second installment of the excellent "Japanese Guitar Works" series, born from the encounter between renowned Naxos producer and director Norbert Kraft and Fukuda, is a collection of works by Toru Takemitsu and other leading Japanese composers. The works are delicate, rich, and varied, with traditional forms. The famous "Early Spring Fruits" by Akira Nakata, arranged by Toru Takemitsu, has the joyousness of the original and an unmistakably lyrical atmosphere. Miyoshi's "Five Poems" is written in a poetic style influenced by French music but incorporating haiku patterns. The dramatic "The Guitar Endures and Hopes On" by Shinichiro Ikebe was praised by the composer as "a performance in which the meaning of the work is clearly conveyed to the listener in every detail.In addition, Hosokawa's "Serenade," with its exciting koto-like sound, was played in a different tuning (Fukuda's own) than at the first performance, and "the richness and beauty of its musicality!" and a message of admiration from the composer.
