Hindemith (1895-1963) is celebrating the 150th anniversary of his death in 2013. His works have a kind of peculiar crunch, and even if you find them "a little hard to listen to" at first, you will find that they have enough appeal to get you hooked once you get to know his diverse compositional techniques, experimental sound production, and underlying passionate emotions. This album contains all of his works for piano and orchestra. The title of the album itself is "Chamber Music" or "Concerto Music," and the fact that it is not called "Concerto" in the usual sense is also very Hindemith-like, but of course the works are innovative, and he always comes up with new ideas. This is the joy of listening to Hindemith. The "Concerto for the Left Hand" is a valuable recording, as a copy was found in the estate of the wife of the pianist Wittgenstein, who lost her right hand in the war (died in 2001).Conducted by Toshiyuki Shimada, Japan's proud conductor of "contemporary music". It is a vivid Hindemith by an unknown master conductor. Piano is by NAXOS's own virtuoso Billette! NAXOS Japan
