Description:
Casella and Guedini were two composers born in Italy at the end of the 19th century. This is an interesting disc that allows us to compare two concertos written by these two composers. Since each composer has his own unique character, the works written by them are also different and quite interesting to listen to. Besides, both Casella and Guedini have Wagnerian parents and are prodigies who can play the cello and piano. There is no doubt that they know the characteristics of their instruments. The triple concerto is a genre originally pioneered by Beethoven, and its charm lies in the way the three instruments sing beautifully together. Cassella's concerto was so well received at its premiere that it has been performed again and again. Ghedini's work is also based on the text of Herman Melville's "The White Whale," an expressive piece of music reminiscent of the Antarctic sea, albatrosses, and the movement of the waves. Naxos Japan
