This is the first installment of the "Contemporary Japanese Guitar Music Series," an excellent project born from Fukuda's encounter with Norbert Kraft, a renowned producer and director of Naxos. Browell's "Lamentations - In Memoriam Takemitsu," dedicated to Fukuda in memory of Toru Takemitsu, one of Japan's leading composers, has become a standard number in the modern guitar world. The new album, which begins with this song, features all of the original solo pieces written by Takemitsu, as well as two of his famous arrangements for the Beatles. In addition, it is a gorgeous anthology that includes "Harp and Shadow," a hymn to Takemitsu written again by Browell 10 years after his death. Naxos Japan
