In fact, the Saint-Saëns symphonies are not in the NAXOS catalogue, even though there seems to be a complete set. So, starting with this first collection, a project was launched to record the complete works of Saint-Saens (although Saint-Saens wrote only three numbered symphonies, one unnumbered symphony and two unfinished symphonies, "Roma" and the Symphony of Rome). ) Although the First Symphony was written at the age of 18, it is surprisingly complete, as he was a child prodigy, surpassing Mozart and Mendelssohn. The second symphony was written six years later, and it is an ambitious work that shows a marked improvement in compositional technique.
