Description:
Pfitzner was a composer active in the late German Romantic period. Born in Russia, he moved to Frankfurt am Main at the age of three. Because his father was a violinist in an orchestra, he became familiar with music at an early age and is known to have written his first works at the age of 11. Of the songs in this fourth collection, the Serenade of 1884 is his earliest work, and most of the others were written when he was still a student, but the idiomatic basis for his later works can be clearly seen in these early works. Each song is full of rich creativity and an intimate atmosphere, including the tender melody of "Five Songs," which uses a poem by the poet Eichendorff, who was a great admirer of the young Serenade. Uwe Schenker-Primus, a baritone who studied in Würzburg and won the 2006 Würzburg International Mozart Competition, has sung at many opera houses, including the Weimar Opera since 2009. Naxos Japan
