A charming collection of violin works by a man who dreamed of Wagner He made his debut as a pianist at age 12 and premiered *The Raven* at age 22. Holbrook was a composer who preferred large-scale works and dreamed of writing music dramas like Wagner’s, yet even after World War I, he could not abandon his late-Romantic style and ultimately fell into obscurity. While he harbored ambitions in vocal music, his instrumental works display a surprisingly simple and unpretentious style. Here you will find some hidden gems.
