Description:
We have collected three of Bach's (1685-1750) most famous and wonderful keyboard pieces: the "Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue" written around 1720, which, although the autograph score is now lost, was transcribed by many of his pupils and used as a teaching material, resulting in differences in ornamentation, etc. from one person to another. Therefore, the ornamentation and other details differed from one person to another. However, the original harmonic progression is intact, and it is loved as one of his most magnificent and exquisite works. Partitas are essentially variations on a theme that changes from moment to moment, while French-style suites are collections of small pieces with a fixed arrangement of dances. All are very challenging, but Crawford, a master American harpsichordist, brings out a wonderful depth of sound from an instrument of great historical value, and gives us a flexible interpretation with a high degree of freedom.
