It was not until the 20th century that women composers and performers began to attract attention. Until then, unless there was something to be done, no matter how talented a woman was, her talent was underestimated and buried. Especially in the Middle Ages, the church and the secular world were dominated by men. Women were rarely given the opportunity to play an active role. However, there were many songs in the religious repertoire of Notre Dame and among the songs of the minstrels that were suitable for the female voice, and many of the lyrics also hide the earnest desires of women. Yes, the lyrics are not only about women, but also about the desire of the women to be heard! Women did not sing these songs.
