Yang Tian’e, a specialist in Sarasate. Her magical bow breathes a passionate soul into every piece. Sarasate is best known for “Zigeunerweisen,” with its memorable, sobbing violin melody. However, the reality is that his other works are far less well-known than one might imagine. Sarasate was born in Pamplona, Spain, in 1844. His father, the bandmaster of a regiment, taught young Pablo to play the violin, but his exceptionally talented son soon surpassed him and moved to Madrid to further hone his skills. His precocious talent was recognized by Queen Isabella II of Spain, and with her support, he studied at the Paris Conservatory, after which he went on to enjoy a distinguished career as a violinist. Most of his works are written for violin and orchestra and are characterized by their brilliance, incorporating elements of Spanish folk music and dance. Naxos Japan
