Arnold's small chamber music, including world premiere recordingsWhen we think of Arnold's music, we tend to associate it with loud orchestral music or film music, and his smaller-scale music is still not well known. This disc is a collection of chamber music for wind instruments, including some world premiere recordings, recorded just before Arnold's regrettable passing. The compositions were composed over a long span of time, from before he was 20 years old to the end of his life. As expected, the music is witty, light, and endearing enough to keep you wanting to listen to it forever. The relatively lengthy "Grand Fantasy," which weaves in elements of dramatic music and jazz, shows that the musician who would later become a master musician was already in his element before the age of 20.
