Following his work on Sibelius for Naxos, this promising young conductor has now turned his attention to Einojuhani Rautavaara (1928–). In particular, Symphony No. 8—the centerpiece of this recording—possesses a grandeur that overflows with the genuine emotion of Rautavaara, who is said to have likened life to symphonic music.
