Description:
Written in 1931, *Love Forever* was the most frequently performed American opera at the Metropolitan Opera in New York until 1985. Peter Ivettson cannot forget his childhood friend, from whom he was separated at a young age due to family circumstances; when he meets her again as an adult, she has already become another man’s wife. He ends up killing her husband and serves his sentence, but in the process, he is injured himself, and only his spirit visits his beloved. Their relationship continues until they are both old, and when her life comes to an end, so does Peter’s. It was adapted into a film in 1935 starring Gary Cooper, so many of you may be familiar with it. [Comment provided by Naxos Japan] ---
