"The Jewish Woman" is one of Alevi’s most representative grand operas. Although this masterpiece achieved international success and was praised by Wagner and others, performances declined sharply in the 20th century. However, its value has been reevaluated in recent years, and it is once again being performed frequently at major opera houses across Europe. This production features a cast of accomplished singers, including bel canto master John Osborne as the Jewish character Eleazar and dramatic soprano Amber Blade as his daughter Rachel. The supporting cast includes Gérard Schneider as Prince Leopold, Rachel’s lover, and Monika Butskowska as Eudoxia. Henrik Nanasi, who served as music director of the Komische Oper Berlin from 2012 to 2017 and is currently in high demand at renowned opera houses, conducts the Frankfurt Opera’s orchestra and chorus.
