What would be the first opera you would want your children to see? Salome" or "Tosca" will teach them about the irrationality of life, but they will not be able to dream. On the other hand, "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Lulu" are a little too early. So I recommend Ravel's "The Child and the Magic". In this opera, which is best seen in performance, clocks, frogs, cats, teacups, chairs, and other normally motionless and non-speaking objects instantly come to life and move around the stage, talking to a child who has grown tired of studying. The music by Ravel (1875-1937) is also colorful and fantastical. There is no problem at all even if there are no images. Please enjoy 45 minutes of thrilling and exciting music. The coupling piece is also the delightful "Ma mère roi" suite. A mysterious world unfolds here as well. Slatkin's expressive conducting magically creates wonderful music.Totally, children are violent and don't listen to me, but in truth, they are kind from the bottom of their hearts and love their mothers....
