Sägelstam / *Tristan and Isolde* Leif Segerstam, a giant of the Nordic music scene who is also renowned as a composer, has seen his recognition and artistry as a conductor grow steadily in recent years. Most recently, his Sibelius symphony series on the ONDINE label (the latest release being Symphony No. 4, released in April 2005), and a collection of Wagner opera choruses on the NAXOS label, among others, have garnered significant attention. Following his collection of opera choruses, this recording of *Tristan und Isolde* features the orchestra and chorus of the Royal Swedish Opera, with mezzo-soprano Hedwig Fassbender—who has been making a name for herself performing the role of Isolde across Europe—in the title role.
