Three concertos by American composer Tsontakis (1951-), winner of the prestigious Gromeyer and Charles Ives Living awards. The clarinet concerto "Anasa" was commissioned by the Albany Symphony Orchestra. As the title of the piece means "breath" in Greek, the rhythmic melody is bursting with life, and the frenetic excitement of the third movement is a joyous experience. Other pieces include "True Colors," a trumpet concerto, and "Unforgettable," in which two violins intertwine with each other in various ways. It is an exciting collection of works in which the titles of all the pieces are imbued with the composer's own deep thoughts. Recorded 2011-2013 by David Alan Miller (conductor)/Albany Symphony Orchestra.
