Stronberg / Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra We present some wonderfully accessible, spirited entertainment from the American master Grofe. Once you know the titles, no explanation is needed—or, in fact, you can often guess the title just by listening—and this simplicity and clarity are nothing short of delightful. The thoroughly spectacular performances—especially in pieces like “Torrential Rain,” “The Roar of the Falls,” “The Power of Niagara” (Highly recommended! Believe it or not, this is music inspired by a hydroelectric power plant) reaches a level of sheer spectacle that makes you exclaim, “Did they really go this far?!”—it’s nothing short of exhilarating. Also, in “Huckleberry Finn” and “Mardi Gras,” you’ll hear music familiar from that “Crossing America with the U●T●K●Z” show!
