Mahler was a well-known master among enthusiasts, but his name became widely known when he became the chef of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and now he is a popular conductor who also appears in "Nodame Cantabile". As a conductor who specializes in Shostakovich and others, his interpretation of Mahler is truly substantial. His confident performance can be widely recommended as a standard. [Mahler's Fifth Symphony is a work full of emotional ups and downs, and is the first purely orchestral work by Mahler since "Titan" in 1888. It is the first Mahler work without voices and without excessively title-music elements. The Adagio is the second most recorded of all Mahler's symphonies, and it is a beautiful and captivating piece of music. It is a love poem for the beautiful Alma Schindler, who later became his wife, and was made famous by its use in Visconti's film "Death in Venice.
