Beautiful string music that will tickle the heart of any maniac. The works on this disc range in style from relatively light pieces to full-fledged, but they all make full use of the characteristics of the stringed instruments, which sing with suppleness and richness, and are filled with the elegant beauty of a gentleman's country, enchanting the ears of all who hear them. If I were to introduce one piece in particular, it would be Wood's "Fantasy Concerto," a piece with a strong classical flavor that stands out from the many free-form works. It is a masterpiece that makes full use of virtuosic writing, and the counterpoint development in the third part is also superb. Naxos Japan
