Listen to the Brahms concerto by Italian female violinist Gioconda De Vito, who won the Vienna International Competition at the age of 25, but did not start performing until 1942, when she finally made her debut in Italy playing the Brahms concerto. She made her debut in Italy in 1942, playing the Brahms concerto. Although she had a deep understanding of the works of her contemporaries Cassella and Pizzetti, her actual repertoire was limited. But all of her performances are sublime and convincing, and both the Brahms and Mozart recordings for DG are memorable for their wide range of expressiveness and the lilting tone characterized by a singsong vibrato. ［Comment courtesy of Naxos Japan
