Monteverdi, Claudio (1567-1643)

Description:

Claudio Monteverdi was born in Cremona, northern Italy, in 1567, and in his mid-teens published motets and religious madrigales, and at age 20 his first collection of secular madrigales. He then served as a singer and viola da gamba player at the court of Vincenzo I Gonzaga of Mantova, and in 1602 he was made director of the court music and continued to compose madrigales for the court and its patrons. Madrigale is one of the representative musical styles of the Renaissance. It is a development of the "flottola" (secular songs) popular in the first half of the 16th century, in which complex polyphony, chromatic scales, and double chorus are used to express rich emotions. Many composers used various forms, such as complex polyphony, chromatic scales, and double chorus, to express rich emotions.Monteverdi saw great potential in the "madrigale" form, calling the strict counterpoint of the 16th century and earlier the "first style" and the free counterpoint the "second style," and he also made groundbreaking experiments such as introducing a basso continuo in the fifth volume. Throughout the collection, the joys of love and romance, the sorrow of losing a loved one, battles, and art are colorfully depicted. This complete collection of madrigales, including world premiere recordings by Delithier Musique and Marco Longini, is performed entirely without cuts, using the latest editions. The songs are sung exclusively by male voices, based on a study of the performance styles of the time. Founded in 1992. The ensemble recorded the Madrigale cycle of Gesualdo and Monteverdi for NAXOS, and has been highly acclaimed for its passionate interpretations. Their passionate interpretations are highly acclaimed. <After studying composition, choral music, and vocal music at the Conservatory of Pollini di Padova, Marco Longini studied the historical architecture of Venice. He also studied conducting at the Conservatory of Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.Deeply interested in 16th and 17th century Italian music, he founded the Ditie Musique to revive important works that have remained unpublished. In addition to performing Monteverdi's stage works and many others, he is also an accomplished teacher. Naxos Japan
