The Hong Kong Philharmonic and Jaap van Zweden have completed the complete "Ring of the Nibelung" cycle, carefully warming up one work each year from 2015 to 2018, performed by the best possible singers. The wonderful performances of each work have been the talk of the town, and the completion of the complete cycle has been eagerly awaited. The role of Wotan (the Wanderer) is played by Matthias Goerne, Siegfried by Simon O'Neill and Daniel Brenna, and Brünnhilde by three sopranos as the story progresses. Listeners will always have a fresh sensation to enjoy the story of the gods. Zweden, who was to be appointed music director of the New York Philharmonic during the progress of the Zycles, has extended his contract with the Hong Kong Philharmonic through the 2021/22 season, and his enthusiastic conducting, which shows his good relationship with the orchestra, is spinning wonderful sounds from the orchestra!
