[Originale Series] The "Sounds of the Times" of Bach and Mozart. Long-awaited re-release of rare original instrumental performance recordings by Teldec, Erato, former Virgin Classics and former EMI! Selected performances on original instruments. Original jackets are used whenever possible. Composed after Schütz's 80th birthday, this is an extremely static, ascetic-sounding work written in the old style of the time. It was the first baroque repertoire for the Hilliard Ensemble, which until then had sung mainly Renaissance music. This is a masterpiece that has been described as "a very deep and spiritual performance. Commentary, lyrics, and bilingual translation included.
