Focusing on a heinous crime committed by two young men in 2001, the film questions the death penalty and the meaning of life through dialogues with the perpetrators and other people involved in the case. Why do people commit murder? Why does the state commit murder in the name of the law? Herzog's plea that all lives should be respected deeply touches the hearts of the audience.
