Description:

Knappertsbusch & Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's "Brahms: Symphony No. 3," originally released on Dream Life (Epitaphon label) in 2009, will be released. The old CD was released in 2009 as "Brahms: Symphony No. 3" and is now available as a high-quality CD "UHQCD"! When the old CD was released in 2009, it was recommended by Mr. Kuniyoshi Uno in the "Monthly Review of New Releases" in the April issue of "Record Geijutsu" (Recorded Arts) as follows. First of all, I would like to write about "Siegfried Pastorale. First, I would like to write about "Siegfried Pastorale" because I was as impressed as the studio recording of this piece made in Munich in 1962. The beauty and charm of the piece come through in abundance, and the overflowing song is something that is not found in the Munich recording. The Berlin recording of Brahms's 3rd from 1950 is the best in terms of sheer magnificence, but the sound is cracked from beginning to end, making it quite difficult to listen to. The expression is a little less matured, but nowadays, the first choice would be this 1958 disc, which has a good enough sound quality. There is also a great performance of Haydn's No. 88 by Hessen in 1962, which is still the best, but the four CDs are all very enjoyable, and this 1958 disc is especially ranked No. 2. The main part of "Death and Transfiguration" is wonderful. All the instruments sound well separated and make sense in every intricate part, and the instrumental gutters are as vivid as they can be, and although the music is forceful, it is never loud. The trombone is beyond words, the climax is a scream, and the violin in the coda is glorious. One of Kuna's masterpieces.
