This album is a collection of Stamitz's works performed by Takashi Ogawa, Natsumi Wakamatsu, Hidemi Suzuki, and Naoki Ueo. Stamitz's Flute Trio for Flute, Violin, and Basso is beautifully performed by Takashi Ogawa, flauto-traverso player, together with Natsumi Wakamatsu, Hidemi Suzuki, and Naoki Ueo. Carl Philipp Stamitz (1745-1801) was a musician active during the heyday of the Mannheim Hofkapelle. While playing violin in the Mannheim orchestra (1762-1770), he also developed his talent for composition. He made many concert tours to Paris, Frankfurt, Augsburg, Strasbourg, and other cities, and after a very successful career in London, he established himself as a viola player and viola d'amore, performing in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and other major German cities, as well as in Mannheim.The Flute Trio for Flute, Violin, and Basso recorded here was performed using the first edition of the score printed in London at the time, with the addition of harpsichord sounds for each selected movement, using numerals written in cello notation to reproduce the elegance of what would have been played at court at the time.
