Description:

Great 3 :Masaaki Kikuchi - Gary . Peacock and Masahiko Togashi reunited for the first time in 22 years, and this 1994 studio recording is now available as a single-layer SACD with an established reputation for sound quality. Re-mastered with amazing sound recorded at HQ-DAT high sampling 96kHz. This is a highly anticipated project for jazz fans and audiophiles who can enjoy the raw performance and sound. ■The popular disc of the highly anticipated hit "Great 3" for jazz fans and audiophiles is now available for the first time on SACD in the single layer format, which is well known for its excellent sound quality! Limited production. The Complete Sessions, which includes a rare 1994 performance by "Great 3: Masaaki Kikuchi, Gary Peacock, and Masahiko Togashi" for the first time in 22 years, plus six previously unreleased tracks, was released in 2020 (4 CD set KKJ-9006/9) and was highly acclaimed as a "jazz world heritage" from all quarters. It was a huge hit and was highly acclaimed as a "jazz world heritage" work from various quarters. This time, the studio recording and the live recording at the pit-in are released separately as two SACDs (single layer). This work is a studio recording made at "Acoustic House" in Ginza, Tokyo.Although regrettably all the members have already passed away, this is a long-awaited work that allows fans to hear the three members at their peak. The original release was in 1994 under the "Aeolus" label. The CD was planned as part of the sales promotion of the "HS-DAT player" released by the audio manufacturer Pioneer at that time. while the sampling frequency of a normal DAT player is 48kHz, HS-DAT can record at a sampling frequency of 96kHz, which is twice as fast, and thus realizes high quality recording and playback. This has been achieved. The recording engineer was Kimio Oikawa, famous for his "ippatsu dori" (one-shot recording). The sound quality is extremely high, and the work was a hot topic among audiophiles at the time. The original sound master, which was recorded on HS-DAT and carefully transferred to HDD for storage, was newly captured in DSD format at King Sekiguchidai Studio, and after the latest remastering, it was converted to SACD in a single layer format, which is well known for its excellent sound quality. The live recording at the Pit Inn is especially well known for its excellent sound quality. The Pit Inn Live disc, in particular, contains the entire performance of that day (approximately 140 minutes) on a single SACD in DST compressed format. The excellent performance and sound that made the CD so well-received has been further refined and brought back to life with an increased sense of presence and raw sound quality. This studio recording at the Acoustic House features Gary Peacock's moving bass solo and Kikuchi's solo piano performance on two additional tracks from the original 1994 recording. The album also includes many familiar standards such as "Summertime," "My Favorite Things," and "Begin The Beguine," as well as the popular "Waltz Step" composed by Togashi and "Little Abi" by Kikuchi. Includes commentary by Kuniya Inaoka and Masahiko Yu, the presidents of the Nadja21 label.
