Description:

Arall's Bach Series Reaches the Köthen Era! Including the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue Small Concerto No. 5 of the Brandenburg Concerto, heard in brilliant harpsichord tones! The new generation's leading harpsichordist and organist, Banjaman Arar, presents the ninth volume of his Bach series. From the famous "Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue in D minor, BWV 903" to the "Brandenburg Concerto No. 5" performed by a total of five orchestra members (two violins, one viola, one bass, and one flute), Arall's eloquent harpsichord resounds with brilliant and furious content. The Marquis Leopold, whom Bach served during the Köthen period, was a Calvinist who restricted music as an obstacle to faith, so no church cantatas were written during this period, and many secular music was established, including the Brandenburg Concerto and the Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin. His previous work, Volume 8, was also notable for its use of the clavichord.Regarding the "Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue," Arall said that it was most likely composed in the aftermath of the unexpected and painful death of Bach's first wife, Maria Barbara, and that he thought its anguished character would be well suited to the clavichord, but he ultimately decided to play it on the wonderful harpsichord by Hieronymus Albrecht Hass ( The result is a wide-range and varied piece, with a very nice harpsichord. The result is a wide range and a variety of stops (lute stops, etc.) that allow us to hear a variety of colors, and Allard's playing, which has a nice sassiness to it, is very much in evidence. Three pieces from the English Suites BWV 806-811 are included (the first draft of the English Suite No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 are included in Volume 3). The English Suites are thought to have been composed between 1719 and 1725. Arard, who also played with La Petite Band, left a lasting impression with his outstanding performance of the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 with them, and here he is bursting with song and flamboyance. This is a super-full Volume 9 that shows that Arar is truly on a roll!
