Takahiro Sonoda

Description:

Brilliant and profound. A treasure in the history of Japanese piano music, Takahiro Sonoda's great collection of Romantic piano works. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Takahiro Sonoda. His widow, Haruko Sonoda, supervised the boxed compilation of his precious legacy as a virtuoso pianist as well as a great contributor to the Japanese piano world. This time, a collection of Romantic composers is included in the boxed set. The highlights are Schumann's "Kreisleriana" and "Children's Scene," which were recorded in September 1982 under the direction of Shohachiro Aizawa and released on LP on the Adam Ace label. The original master was recently discovered and has been restored with the latest remastering. The recording was made at a church in Shimoigusa, Tokyo, late at night in September, so it may be interesting from an audio standpoint to hear the faint sound of insects in quiet places. It is the ultimate in luxury to be able to enjoy the major piano works of Chopin, Schumann, and Brahms with Sonoda's virtuoso performance. You will be immersed in the strong pianism and deep musicality without a trace of ambiguity. The bonus disc includes a live concert at Suntory Hall on September 23, 1998 to commemorate his 70th birthday. You can enjoy the matured and supreme performance. The commentary is basically written by Sonoda himself. The commentary on Chopin is well worth reading and shows the depth of his attention to detail. This time, we offer it at a surprisingly low price. This is a great musical legacy that every household should have a set of.
