Description:

This is truly a “Trinity” performance! The prodigious Jean Geoffroy has recorded Bach’s Trio Sonatas for Organ in a marimba trio arrangement! Jean Geoffroy, who performs worldwide not only as a marimba player but also as a multi-percussionist, has released his long-awaited new recording: a marimba trio arrangement of Bach’s six Trio Sonatas for organ, performed alongside his students Minh-Nam Nguyen and Galdrik Subirana! Jean Geoffroy served as principal percussionist of the Orchestre de Chambre National de Paris from 1985 to 2000, while also he served as a professor at the Geneva Conservatory from 1999 to 2006, at the National Conservatory of Music in Lyon from 1999 onward, and has also been teaching at the Paris Conservatory since 2005. He frequently visits Japan as a lecturer at the Keiko Abe International Marimba Academy, where he conducts master classes and gives concerts. She has released over 35 albums to date; among them, Jean Geoffroy’s Johann Sebastian Bach Project—*The Unaccompanied Cello Suites* and *The Unaccompanied Violin Partitas*—released on the French label Scarlabo, garnered significant attention. In addition, the recording (DSK4147) of the “Goldberg Variations”—arranged by Geoffroy for five marimbas and one vibraphone—has drawn attention for its skillful ensemble playing and its focus on sound effects. The six Trio Sonatas, BWV 525–530, are believed to have been composed between 1727 and 1732; they are works for solo organ consisting of three completely independent parts for the right hand, left hand, and pedals. Each of the six sonatas possesses its own distinct character, and while they are known as some of the most challenging works in Bach’s organ repertoire, Geoffroy’s marimba arrangement skillfully highlights the instrument’s unique qualities. The dynamic performance, born from a perfect, almost trinity-like harmony, will captivate you the moment you hear it. The brilliant Joffroy has finally released this long-awaited new recording of Bach’s works! King International
