Description:
Latvian Jaris Arboris studied flute and composition at the Latvian National Conservatory of Music (now the Latvian Academy of Music). He worked extensively as a player in the Latvian National Opera Orchestra, as a freelance artist, as a member of a trio with composer Edmundz Goldshteins and violist Jánis Bravus, and as an organist in Strasbourg, France. As a composer, he created works with a philosophical worldview centering on humanism and social processes, with a basic style of modulation and polyphony. Xeniae is an opera that exists only as a "recording.Hic Est, Ja Nu Jums Patiesi Bailes (If You're Really Afraid), Taidas Monologs Un Arija (Thais Monologs and Arias), Oda Ari-ja (Mosquito Aria), Zevs Varenais (Mighty Zeus), Vina Dziesma (Wine Song), Cukas Arija (Pig Aria), and Finals. Vina Dziesma (Wine Song), Cukas Arija (Pig Aria), and Finals. The recording of this "world premiere" was a collaboration between the composer and Sigvars Kryava (b.1962), artistic director of the Latvian Radio Choir, and was completed in the summer of 2010 in a room in the basement of Kryava's home, after a month and a half of sessions with one or a pair of singers. The recording took a month and a half to complete. The music includes improvisational jazz passages. Tokyo M-Plus
