Description:
A collection of orchestral works by Pēteris Balisons, who contributed to the development of Latvian music! With works by composers of all generations, music education, performance activities, periodicals, and the "Latvian Song Festival" held every five years, Latvian music of this period saw a great leap forward. Peteris Balissons was one of the composers who left his mark in this period. He studied composition with Ernest Vignelles and Jánis Medinš and conducting with Jázeps Viitoris. In 1945, he became a professor at the Latvian Conservatory of Music, but he died two years later without completing his Third Symphony. He worked in the late Romantic style, and is best known for his choral works for song festivals. The "Three Preludes," "Allegro molto," "Andantino," and "Andante ferroce. Symphony No. 2 "Romantic" consists of four movements: "Love's Awakening," "Exultation," "Erotica," and "Love's Death.Session recording by Gintaras Rinkevicius (b.1960) and Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.
