This album was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tarivaldis Keninš in 2019. Five works by five Latvian composers will be performed together. Two works by Keninsh (1919-2008) are on the album. Concertante" dedicated to Robert Aitken, a student in his counterpoint class at the University of Toronto. The "Fantasy Variations on an Inuit Lullaby," a flute and viola duet arranged by Ivars Bezprozvanovs with permission from the composer's son. Moonlight" with piano music by Imants Zemzaris (b.1951). The three-movement "Fantasy" "Scene of a Burnt Out Earth" by Peteris Vaskus (b.1946), which weaves together "Latvia's Fight for Independence" and the theme "Nature and Threat. Lolita Litmanis (b.1962) is a Latvian-American composer who won an Emmy Award in 2002 for her animated series "Batman Beyond. Beyond the Window is a piece she composed for Zintra Erliha (b.1981) during the COVID-19 era. Datze Appelane (b.1953) was born in Winnipeg, Canada.He has sought inspiration in Latvian poetry, art, and folk music in many of his works. The "Song of Koclet" is based on a Latvian folk melody. Dream Sights," dedicated to the trio of Ilona Meyer (b.1971) and others. Jánis Roussens (b.1959), who has composed about 500 instrumental and choral songs, also wrote two songs. The light and cheerful piece "Shadow Play on the River" is based on a piece he improvised at night. Music for a Film that Doesn't Exist" is an arrangement of "Theatre Music," which he wrote for piano, cello, accordion, and bass guitar. Tokyo M-Plus
