Description:
Introducing the Taipei Symphony Orchestra (original text in Japanese)Founded in 1969, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra has been evolving with great artistry for over half a century. Our mission is to share the beauty of music and to represent the most beautiful sounds of Taipei. We want to create a dialogue through music and bring the sound of Taiwan to the world, and TSO is proud to be a part of this dialogue with soprano Angela Gheorghiu, violinist Maxim Vengerov, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, conductor Yuri Hatuevich Temirkanov, composer Tan Dun and others, and has always performed with renowned artists from around the world. Over the years, the TSO has been conducted by renowned maestros such as Felix Chiusen Chen, András Ligeti, and Gilbert Varga, who have led the TSO to the pinnacle of musical artistry. From 2019 to 2022, the TSO will be led by Maestro Eliahu Inbal Chief Conductor and performed the complete Mahler symphonies. These performances were critically acclaimed. In 2023, Maestro Inbal, one of the world's best-known conductors for his interpretations of works by Mahler, Shostakovich, and Bruckner, was invited to become its laureate conductor. Under his leadership, the TSO has begun a new chapter: in 1979, the TSO launched the Taipei Music Festival. Since then, the TSO's repertoire has grown to over 45 productions, attracting great attention, becoming a must-see event for opera lovers and playing an important role in the development of Western opera in Taiwan.
