In 2024, Shogun will celebrate the 45th anniversary of his debut, and to close out the year, he will release two best albums, one for each type of music, exclusively for Tower Records. This "best Mellow tunes" is the first of the two, and contains a selection of mellow tunes that transcend labels and are comfortable to listen to from original albums throughout his entire career. Song selection and commentary is by music writer Masayoshi Kondo (Free Ride Edition). Two bonus tracks will be included. Shogun was originally formed by the One Line Band, a group of first-call studio musicians led by guitarist Fujimaru Yoshino. They were musicians who were close to each other among the best musicians in the world. Members include Fujimaru Yoshino (g), Kazuo Otani (key), Michio Nagaoka (b), Hideo Yamaki (ds), and Mamoru Nakajima (per).It was a time when studio musicians, who helped artists produce outstanding albums, were in the national and international limelight as individual artists or as a group. They quickly gained attention and received offers from TV people.' In the April 79 TV drama "We Are Angels! (Nippon Television's nationwide network), and Casey Rankin, who composed the theme song, joined the band. The band changed its name to Shogun and made its debut with the soundtrack album "Shogun" and the theme song single "Otoko-tachi no melody". The theme song became a big hit, selling over 500,000 copies. In the October season of the same year, he was in charge of the opening and ending songs for "Detective Story," also on Nippon Television, and his second album "ROTATION," which included the opening song "BAD CITY" and the closing song "LONELY MAN," was also a hit. After releasing their third album "You're the One" in 1980, the band went on hiatus. Since then, they have resumed their activities several times, releasing albums in 1997, 2001, 2006, 2001, and 2002.The best of the eight original albums from their career have been selected to be featured on this album.
