Japanese hard rock pioneers VOWWOW’s comeback album “STILLONFIRE,” which heralded their “relaunch,” is finally being reissued!! In 2024, as VOWWOW’s relaunch has once again drawn intense attention to their history, the 1998 album “STILLONFIRE”—which had long been difficult to find—is finally being reissued. This album was born out of the passionate spirit of the original trio—Kyoji Yamamoto (G/Vo), Mitsuhiro Saito (G/Vo), and Toshihiro Niimi (Ds)—when they reunited in 1998 and decided, “Let’s just record a demo tape.” Although it was initially intended as a sort of sampler for industry contacts, its exceptionally high level of polish led to its release as a prelude to a full-scale reunion, making it a must-have for fans. The highlight is the breathtaking 9-minute-and-36-second medley. Representative tracks from their first album, *Howl! BOWWOW*, through their third, *CHARGE*, are brought back to life with a powerful ensemble sound, driven by the band’s matured musicianship. Additionally, the album includes a bonus track: “Chaser,” a song originally provided for the long-unavailable PlayStation game *R*. Kyoji Yamamoto’s signature, exhilarating guitar work shines with a brilliance that transcends mere archival value.
