Description:
Previously unreleased live performance from 1967 after J. Page joined the band! Rare song "Glimpse", Dylan's "On My Way" and other surprising songs are also featured! The night before the birth of Led Zeppelin! This 74-minute video was recorded live at the Fillmore in San Francisco in July 1967, after Jimmy Page replaced Jeff Beck. When Jimmy Page took over as the third guitarist, the band took a hard line that would later lead to Led Zeppelin. Under the guidance of talented manager Mickey Most, the band toured the U.S. after recording the pop-oriented album "Little Games." The tour was full of songs and arrangements that could only be heard during this period, such as the psychedelic "Glimpses," while deepening the hardness of the music. However, no official live recordings exist, and the sound quality is dated, but this is an extremely valuable show that fans should hear at least once. After the MC's introduction, the drums started to play, and the show started with a heavy "Train Kept A Rollin" with Page reproducing the sound of a steam whistle on a distorted Telecath. The last part of the song was filled with a long guitar solo in a minor key, reminiscent of ZEP. As soon as the solo ends, the intro of "Heartful of Soul" rings out. The Clapton-era classic "I Wish You Would," featuring Keith Relf on blues harp, was performed with great enthusiasm for nine minutes. Janis Joplin's version of the famous "My Baby" uses wah-wah to great effect. The harp and vocal exchanges with K. Relf are also reminiscent of ZEP.The cover of the blues classic "Smokestack Lightning" is also a cover of the later ZEP's "How Many More Times" itself, from the bass riff! The live performance of "Glimpse" from the Little Games recording is very rare, and the performance with the narration tape playing is psychedelic and pop. This is a rare live recording from the transitional period when J. Page was pursuing new rock possibilities with the Yardbirds. Although the sound quality is not high, this is a historical archive of British rock, and a miraculous release of the superb live performance of Jimmy Page and the Yardbirds in 1967. Includes Japanese liner notes of the situation at that time, episodes, song titles, etc. The jacket uses a licensed photo by Getty Images Japan.
