Description:
Chuck Berry's unreleased live performance at Winterland, 1967. Riding around R&R party backed by Steve Miller Band! Licensed by JASRAC (Japan Copyright Association). John Lennon said, "If you had to give rock 'n' roll another name, that name would be Chuck Berry! Chuck, who had a string of inventive hits in the late 50s, including "Johnny B Goode," "Sweet Little Sixteen," and "School Days," was imprisoned for the second time in 1962, but wrote "Nadine," "No Particular Place to Go," and " Promist Land," which he wrote while in prison. However, Chuck, who was distrustful of people due to repeated arrests, left Chess Records and moved to Mercury Records. After that time, Chuck was no longer blessed with hit songs, but he took advantage of the rock and roll revival and became active in the live music scene. In particular, he made Bill Graham's Fillmore and Winterland his home on the West Coast, playing shows backed by the Steve Miller Band, which was also a local band. From the live circuit during this period, a show at the Fillmore was even released on Mercury. It was such a fulfilling period. The Beatles and the Stones were gaining a renewed reputation for British rock music, and I can see Chuck's smug face saying, "I'm the rock 'n' roll guy. Chuck, who is also a man of showmanship, performed his hit songs without hesitation, especially with his stage composition that switches songs instantly like James Brown. This December 29 performance in particular features Jim Peterman's organ, and unusual songs like the Booker T & the MS's-style "Around and Around" and Little Walter's slow blues "Mean Old World".Chuck was in great spirits from start to finish, and his rapid-fire vocals were outstanding as he freely drove his rock 'n' roll guitar. The show is full of highlights, such as "Johnny B. Goode" and "Bye Bye Johnny" at the end of the stage. As an added bonus, three songs from the December 26 show have been added. Chuck Berry was 41 years old when he left Chess Records and spent most of his time performing live. Please enjoy his passionate stage performance. The Japanese commentary of the situation, episodes, and song titles of the time are included on the inside cover. electric pianoLonnie Turner - bassTim Davis - drums
