Early Pink Floyd live BBC recordings! From Eternal Grooves' "ROCK OFF" series, a collection of rare takes that showcase Syd Barrett's madly beautiful talents! Pink Floyd was a band that went from underground events at the UFO Club and other venues to becoming one of London's leading bands with their light show and trippy sound, as if they were ushering in the flower movement in swingin' London. The band signed with EMI Records, which also included the Beatles, and made their debut with the album "Whistlers at Dawn". In 1967, just at the height of London's excitement, Pink Floyd released their first album, "The Whistler at Dawn," which was based on R&B, but had lyrics that were out of the ordinary for pop music, and a sound that stimulated both the auditory and visual senses. Their arrival on the scene was a milestone in the rock scene.The album includes rare live takes that can only be heard during this period, such as "Astronomy Domine," which showcases Syd Barrett's talent, and "Vegetable Man," a song with an innovative, avant-garde pop style. The following year's second album, "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" by R. Waters, which was the forerunner of the prog rock style, was also performed. The overflowing talent of Syd Barrett eventually led him to a mental breakdown, and the many takes are filled with the last glimpses of his mad and beautiful brilliance. The original mono mix is included here as it was originally broadcasted. Unlike some of the officially released pseudo-stereo takes, this live collection gives a real sense of the atmosphere of this era. The Japanese commentary on the situation, episodes, and song titles of the time is included on the inside cover, and is part of Eternal Grooves' "ROCK OFF" series!
