Description:

Lights and Shadows of Youth! 23 year old Joni at a small acoustic show in '67! A rare live performance from just before her dazzlingly fresh debut, from Eternal Grooves' "ROCK OFF" series! Joni Mitchell is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century, whose creative activities transcend genres such as jazz, crossover, rock, and painting. This is a rare acoustic live performance recorded by WHAT, a local radio station, in Philadelphia about a year before her impressive debut produced by David Crosby in 1968. This time, it appears in its longest version. The show was recorded by WHAT, a local radio station, and is now available in its longest version, with the addition of another in-studio show that took place two days later. The first main show was at a small live house called "Second Fret Club". Joni talks to the audience in a friendly manner and performs her own songs in that intimate space, using only her guitar and clear vocals. Even before his debut, he already has three albums' worth of original music, and here he also performed a song that will later be released on his third album. The song "Both Sides Now," which will appear on the second album, is one of her favorites, and she also introduces the name of the book that inspired her to write "Both Sides Now"! The famous song "Circle Game", which becomes an anti-war symbol in the movie "Ichigo Hakusho", is included in both the first and second parts, and already gives the song the "aura of the times" that it has. Song to a Seagull," with its effective odd-tuned guitar, and covers by Fairport Convasion and Leonard Cohen are also included, as well as numerous previously unreleased songs. The last addition, a studio live performance at WHAT Radio, is a rare find, as Joni's versions of all three songs are still unreleased to this day. The Neil Young cover of "Sugar Mountain" is particularly surprising. After hearing Neil Young sing of his passing youth, "Animals and colorful balloons, after you turn 20, you can't live in this Sugar Mountain anymore," Joni sang, "It's wrong to just live in a desolate world after you turn 20. We're going to live forever." She wrote "The Circle Game" as an answer song. Her voice is clear and transparent, colored by a pure and simple sensibility. However, her core strength as a woman who never looks back is also her charm. Here comes the masterpiece live performance at a small club of Joni at the age of 23, before her debut. This is from the "ROCK OFF" series by Eternal Grooves.
