Description:
Neat and beautiful sound, witty phrasing! A rare solo album from the last years of Kholshovsky's career. The highly acclaimed "The Rule of Average" is now available on XRCD! The sound quality has been greatly improved! The official sound source provided by the label has been remastered by renowned engineer Kazuya Sugimoto, and reissued as XRCD, a high-quality sound format that can be played on ordinary CD players. Now you can enjoy this masterpiece, one of the best recordings of "The Rule of Average" among the many recordings made by experts, in even better sound quality! This first volume is the only recording of "The Mean Rule" made by Korshovsky. Although he was already in his late 80s at the time of recording, his expressive power has not diminished at all and is still impressive. The performance is very neat, with a refined sound without any stagnation, and the phrasing is very beautiful without excessive expression. The tempo swings gently, and the important phrases have a natural weight to them. The pedal is rarely used, and each voice floats and interacts with delicacy and lightness. Bach is a warm and welcoming music that says all that needs to be said, but does not shun you coldly. This is a wonderful performance, which is no wonder it has long been considered a masterpiece. Holuchowski is a Polish pianist born in 1892. His mother was a pianist who studied with Karol Mikulis, a pupil of Chopin. After learning from his mother, he went to Vienna to study with Czerny's pupil, Theodor Leszczecki, and at the age of 10, he made his debut with the Warsaw Philharmonic playing Beethoven's First Concerto. At the age of 10, he made his debut with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Beethoven's First Concerto, and became known as a child prodigy. He had Joachim and Fauré perform for him, made the acquaintance of such musicians as Casals, Toscanini, and Granados, and heard the premiere of "The Rite of Spring," giving a sense of the great age of Horszowski's youth. In his later years, he was again in the limelight as a solo pianist, making his first visit to Japan at the age of 95, and giving energetic recitals in various venues until his death in 1993 at the age of 100.
