Atau Arpa Yupanqui (1908-92) is one of the greatest folklore musicians born in Argentina. It has been three years and four months since the release of "Atau Arpa Yupanqui 1963-1966" (TKSB-007), which was released when Takeoff & Sambinha, the predecessor of the Takemura Office & Sambinha label, was in existence. At the age of 20, Yupanqui began composing music that he absorbed from traditional sources, and in 1936, at the age of 28, he made his first recordings. In 1936, at the age of 28, he made his first recording, and in the 1950s, he moved to Europe, where he established his reputation, traveling back and forth between Argentina and Europe, making many recordings that eventually became popular with music fans around the world. In 1964, he made a memorable first visit to Japan. And this work, "Atau Arpa Yupanqui 1966-1968," starts with the famous performance of [1][2][3] recorded in 1966, which was omitted from the previous work due to the time allowed to record "Pajadores of the Pursued".Yupanki visited Japan again in 1966 and 1967, and left recordings of compositions he composed in Japan [6] and others. He returned to his native country in August of 1967, and his recordings [4]-[10] are included in this album. The following year, at the age of 60, Hupanki moved his base of activities to Paris, where he left behind seven songs [11]-[17], of which [11] "I'll Work, I Want to Work," [13] "I Am Free" and [17] "Ripe Corn Dance" are especially noteworthy. Bonus tracks include "Estregita," a well-known song by Manuel Ponce of Mexico that Yupanqui loved to play at concerts, and "Nenkororo," Yupanqui's arrangement of a lullaby from the Chugoku region that fascinated him when he first came to Japan. Also included is "Farewell Japan," in which Yupanki, who felt he would never visit Japan again when he left Japan on his first visit, shares his impressions of the country. As in the past, the songs and recitations are accompanied by their Japanese translations and the main points of the songs and recitations, so that the audience can understand the world of Yupanki.
