Description:

Discolohia (a coined word meaning "recordology") is the only label in the world that aims to turn the sounds inscribed on vinyl records into material for new studies. This year's program will once again feature a unique selection of rare music that has never been introduced to the world, and will be accompanied by unique music selections and fresh commentary. The theme this time is the flow of "danção," one of the most important pieces of Cuban dance music. This project is to follow the mambo and cha-cha-cha from the "dansone" to the pachanga on a single CD. Of course, there has never been an album created with such a unique intention in the world. It is well known that there is a music called "son" in Cuba. The late Mr. Toyo Nakamura called this "son" "Cuba's keystone music," and revealed that it is the root of mambo and salsa. If the "son" was the national music of Cuba in the 20th century, then the "dansone," introduced here, may be said to have been the national music of the 19th century that preceded it. Dansone was born in 1879.The founder was a musician of mixed blood named Miguel Faylde. In the beginning, it was organized more like a brass band and played mainly as instrumental music. From then until about 1925, when the "Son" exploded, was the golden age of "Dansone. During this period, the orchestra composition changed from a brass band to a charanga formation with flutes and violins as the main instruments. This album contains valuable recordings by famous orchestras of the early 20th century, starting with "On Simpson's Hill," the first dansone piece written by the founder of the orchestra, Fylde. The album also clearly traces the development of his original and new musical style, which was influenced by "Son. The first "dansonette" (sung dansone), the first "mambo," the first "cha-cha-cha," the first "pachanga," and the last "salsa mambo" (salsa mambo)... In the last part, the SP era (!), which even salsa maniacs have never heard of... The last song, "Dansone" is easy to understand, and the first song, "Chachacha", is the first "Pachanga". In simple terms, "dansone" is the sibling of Brazilian choro, Argentine tango, or American jazz.Just as the Brazilian choro has always supported the rich musicality of samba from the fringes, the "dansone" stream has always mixed with the "son" to support the richness of Cuban dance music. That, in Discolohia's opinion, has always been the most fascinating part of Cuban dance music. The contents are full of curiosities as usual, but Disco Lohia has also lined up sound sources that can be enjoyed even by beginners once they hear them. The binding has been changed to DVD size and a large booklet with rare photos and detailed explanations is now available for your enjoyment. The mastering has been done with the same care and attention to detail as always. Please enjoy the rich and fragrant musicality of Cuban music.
