This is a popular disc from the long-established U.S. roots music label, Arhoolie Records. A legendary one-man band musician who has influenced Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, and others! The work introduced here is a compilation of Jesse Fuller's early recordings from the 1950s (originally released on Arhoolie Records in 1991). The album includes his immortal gospel song "Amazing Grace," which is written with an austere delivery and deadly slide guitar playing, and his signature song "San Francisco Bay Blues," which has been covered by Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, Phoebe Snow, and many others, Railroad Blues masterpiece "Leavin' Memphis, Frisco Bound," and "Flavor in My Cream," whose harmonica/singing style was a notable influence on Bob Dylan.
