Description:
Sublime Frequencies, Seattle's most popular record label, has revolutionized the world music scene with field recordings of frontier music from around the world and the discovery of psychedelia/rare grooves from the Middle East and Asia. Sublime Frequencies has revolutionized the world music scene with the discovery of rare groove recordings, and now, from its exciting lineup, we present the legendary masterpieces of Group Bombino, a key band in the Tuareg guitar music scene! Bombino is the central figure/guitarist of the Group Bombino, considered a charismatic figure in the Tuareg music scene. Born and raised as a child of the Tuareg tribe in Agadez, northern Niger, he was forced to live on the run from an early age due to the social conflict between the Tuareg and Nigerian governments. As a teenager, he admired the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopfler, and honed his playing skills by imitation. After living in exile in Algeria and Libya, he returned to Niger. He began playing in local bands and eventually formed his own group, which quickly became well known. Hisham Mayeh, founder of Sublime Frequencies, who had been making field recordings and documentary films mainly in the Sahara/Middle East/Africa, heard about the group and decided to record the album in the region in 2007. This album, recorded by Hisham Mayeh in 2007, is the only album under the group Bombino's name, and is an important piece of work that has since helped Bombino gain worldwide recognition. The first four songs are folk-blues style compositions with mainly acoustic guitar playing, singing, and hand clapping, which were taken from the archives of the Group Bombino. The second five songs were recorded live by Hisham Mayeh. In contrast to the first four songs, the second five songs are performed by an electric guitar band and feature aggressive guitar tunes that could be described as ferocious. The bluesy, colorful riffs and repetitive repetitions of the ferocious guitar sound instantly induce the listener into a frenzied trance-like state. Bombino has since appeared in documentaries and released the critically acclaimed 2011 solo album "Bombino" (CBR-23028), and has finally become a legend in the world music scene. Bombino's performance on his first album is also a work of genius, worthy of being called the Jimi Hendrix of the Sahara Desert. Although it shares some sonic similarities with the Group Inerrane, we highly recommend this album to those who desire a more destructive and explosive sound! If you are a desert blues fan or a Jimi Hendrix fan, don't miss this one! Comes with an obi with Japanese explanation. Japanese explanation is not enclosed.
