Description:

The French label MLP has released a new compilation of the songs of the Lebanese singer Fayrouz (Fayrouz), who remains one of Lebanon's most popular and influential female singers. Fayrouz was born on November 21, 1935, to a Christian family in Lebanon. At the age of 14, she made her debut as an exclusive singer for a radio station, and since then she has become a representative singer not only in Lebanon but also in the Arab world. The name Fayrouz, which means "turquoise" in Arabic, is said to have been given by Halim El Roumi, a composer/singer and father of Majida El Roumi, who later became a popular female singer. At first, Fayrouz teamed up with the Rahbani brothers, a composer/arranger, to create innovative Arabic songs that incorporated elements of chanson, Latin music, and American pop music, and gained great popularity. She was married to the Rahbani brothers' older brother, Arcee, and they had a son, Ziad, in 1956.After their divorce in 1979, however, the Rahbani brothers became estranged, and her son Ziad took over musical leadership, leading the group to produce many masterpieces, including "My Beloved Beirut". This album is a compilation of 30 songs from the early recordings Filees made in the early 50's when she was still in her teens, especially from the first 3 10" LPs released on Parlophone (=released in 1957). The album contains a number of recordings from the early 50's. Some of them may surprise you with their innovations, such as entertaining Arabic songs that incorporate novel Cuban music styles such as bolero and mambo, which were sweeping the world at that time. Of course, all the songs were sound-produced by the Rahbani brothers, and it is clear that they had already created arrangements filled with a wealth of ideas. Since it is currently quite difficult to obtain early File's recordings, this album is highly recommended. Includes an obi with Japanese explanation *Japanese commentary is not enclosed.
