At the end of the 20th century, Sambasunda suddenly emerged from the Sunda region of western Java, Indonesia. Despite their youth, their deep familiarity with the traditional music of the region and their aggressive use of contemporary arrangements quickly captivated world music fans around the world. In 2017, they celebrated their 25th anniversary and released their first album on their old label in a long time. Based on their quintessential percussive ensemble, the album showcases the same diverse arrangements and sounds as before, including a song number featuring a bewitching female singer and a magnificent bamboo gamelan orchestra.
